Right now, when people are dealing both with a new pandemic and new economic realities, is a moment of great risk of scams. It's important to recognize some common frauds and scams, how to protect oneself, and what to do immediately if one suspects a scam.

The federal government's USA.gov website, offers some useful information about common scams and frauds -- including scams related to COVID-19, banking scams, and others.
The United States Federal Trade Commission offers a variety of consumer information about shopping, saving, and related scams and frauds, like those that offer fake rebates or demand payment with gift cards. They also explain some methods to avoid fraud, a list of recent scam reports, and how to file a federal complaint.
